Jones Family Farm is a small, diversified operation with a licensed cheese plant and state-inspected 5A slaughterhouse. We make a wide variety of cheeses, raise goats, lambs and chickens for meat, and keep laying hens for eggs. We specialize in fresh, high-quality ingredients for fine restaurants, bakeries, retail stores, and home use. Our dedication to detail and small-scale production ensures superior taste and quality.

Jones Family Farm is owned and operated by Peter & Suzie Jones of Herkimer. Peter & Suzie moved to the area nine years ago. We are originally from Wisconsin, where our family traditions of cheese and specialty meats run deep.

Cheese. We make artisanal and farmhouse-style cheeses in our state-inspected cheese plant. We have access to some of the best goat, sheep and cow milk in the Mohawk Valley, which means no limit to the variety of high-quality cheeses we can make. Chèvre, feta, cheddar, Chihuahua-style, “drunken goat”, Manchego-style, even lowly cream cheese is better when produced in your own backyard. Our cheeses are found on menus at fine restaurants throughout New York and on your favorite bagel.


Chicken. Our chicken is raised on pasture with unlimited access to sunshine, grass, and all the bugs they can find. They are fed an all-natural, locally sourced feed: No antibiotics, no hormones, no animal bi-products. We find that birds raised this way are happier and healthier. The meat is better, too—firm, juicy and flavorful. We process all of our chicken on the farm in our state-inspected 5A slaughterhouse. This is the best way for us to ensure a high quality product from beginning to end. Look for Jones Family chicken at Central New York’s best restaurants.


Goats & Sheep. Goat is the most popular red meat worldwide. We are pleased to offer some of the highest quality goat & lamb available in the Northeast. Our animals are raised on grass, hay and browse alone. We do not feed grain. The result is a healthier and hardier herd and a pure, clean-tasting meat without any of the added fat.


Eggs. We keep a large flock of laying hens for premium brown eggs. Our ladies are free-range year round, scratching for goodies and eating grass and flowers in the warmer months, and inside the sunniest part of our barn over the winter. Our customers love the bright orange-yellow yolks and the rich flavor of our eggs.


Finally, LOCAL is central to the Jones Family Farm business model. We buy goat, sheep and cow milk from local farmers; we pick up day-old chicks from a nearby hatchery; we buy animal feeds from our neighbors. More than 95% of our sales are generated within a 60-mile radius of our farm. We believe in local because our rural community depends on it. Spending dollars locally helps us all. And we are proud to call the Mohawk Valley our home!
