Cheryl Laquay visited the Little Falls Rotary Club weekly Wednesday
night dinner meeting.
Following
dinner, Laquay spoke about Mohawk Valley Health Services and the
diversity of programs offer for all residents. This includes people
with medical problems, including dementia, diabetes, depression,
and many with physical disabilities.
Attendees are brought in by bus for the weekday
five hour program, which includes breakfast and lunch. Wellbeing
preventative medical care is provided by employee nurses who dispense
medications, handle refills, doctor's appointments and transfers
to hospital or doctor's offices.
Beyond the care provided at the Health centers,
there are programs that take attendees out for shopping, meals in
local restaurants, museums, entertainment, such as plays, and riding
the Adirondack railroad. By keeping patients active, it keeps them
independent while providing lifelines and assistance with Social
Service needs.
