Hector
Allen a local retired teacher and chief historian of Oppenheim,
enlightened everyone on the police of days gone by in the Oppenheim
area of upstate New York and how they came into existence.
He informed us of how politics worked back then, how counties were
formed, and how officials were elected and kept the peace.
With many amusing stories and details about life long ago, it was
an interesting presentation.
Mr. Allen also touched upon the point that he is working on a second
book about the Oppenheim area and hopefully it will be ready for
sale in the early spring time. In the book he has assorted pictures
that were sent to him by many former residents of the area with
stories behind each picture and how they fit into the Oppenheim
history.
