Visit to Overlook - November 28th 2012

Before the Wednesday evening dinner meeting, Rotary Members made a
visit to the recently refurbished Overlook Mansion, situated high
above the City on the north side. Described on the historic registar
as Late Victorian Romanesque and built with Limestone by H. M. Boyer
based upon the architects design by Archimedes Russell for David Hamlin
Burrell, through the significant period of 1889 to 1925.
Much of the restoration work has been completed by James Tomaso and
James Welch to a very high standard. This also invloved completely
rebuilding much of the southwest and southeast corners which had been
severly damaged through water ingress from the downpipes from the
roof.
The mansion is already open to host private functions and will shortly
be welcoming guests for overnight stays.
