The Little Falls Rotary club welcomed Alison Swartz as their after
dinner speaker, representing Herkimer Healthnet in her position as
Creator of Healthy Places to Live and Work.
Herkimer Healthnet works with municipalities and organizations to
improve and promote the use of neighborhood and community trails,
playgrounds and parks. A primary goal is to create healthy places
in Herkimer County for safe, accessible and attractive opportunities
for physical activity for persons of all ages and abilities.
Swartz said that they also work to develop healthier child care and
daycare programs, fostering healthy eating by promoting farmers' markets
and the use of fresh food.
Working with the Town of Ohio, they have created an ice skating area,
in the Town of Webb a Care program, in Cold Brook a footbridge and
in Herkimer, improved lighting on Main Street. More information on
these and many other programs can be found at www.herkimerhealthnet.com.
